I was born and raised in Bellingham, and was first introduced to the law in high school while working part-time for a local law firm. I received my undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Oregon in 2005, and went on to attend Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. During law school, I served as a judicial extern to Judge Paul Papak at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, worked as a research assistant to Dean and Professor of Law Robert H. Klonoff, was elected Lead Articles Editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review, and served as a teaching assistant for the law school’s legal writing program and several other courses. I graduated magna cum laude in 2012. After graduating law school, I worked as a judicial clerk for Judge Timothy J. Sercombe at the Oregon Court of Appeals, and then resumed work with Professor Klonoff – working on academic articles, multiple law school textbooks, and the Thompson West “Nutshell” on Class Actions and other Multi-Party Litigation. I also worked with Professor Klonoff on such high-profile cases as the Volkswagen “clean diesel” litigation and the Wells Fargo unauthorized accounts litigation. I ultimately decided to return to Bellingham to open my own law firm. I am lucky to have good friends and mentors in the legal community, and I am very happy to be back in Bellingham. I speak fluent Spanish (my wife, María, is originally from Venezuela and helps me keep my Spanish sharp!), and I enjoy serving the large Spanish-speaking community in Northwest Washington.
